Contech: meet the eight winners of Construction Startup Competition 2022

For the third year in a row, Leonard has teamed up with nine industry leaders for the 6th edition of the world's largest start-up competition in construction. The eight solutions that just have been selected out from hundreds of applications typically enhance the productivity and environmental impact of worksites.

Eight startups have been selected as the winners of the Construction Startup Competition 2022, the global challenge initiated by CEMEX Ventures and supported by Leonard and a growing number of global leaders in innovation in construction: Black & Veatch, Dysruptek by Haskell, Ferrovial, GS Futures, Hilti, NOVA by Saint-Gobain, Procore, and Zacua Ventures. In the category of Green Construction, the winners are the innovative carbon negative cement technology Carbon Limit (US) and the platform 2050 Materials (UK). Artificial Intelligence powers the two winners of the Enhanced Productivity category Exodigo (US) and Constru.ai (Israel). The Construction Supply Chain vertical was conquered by the dirt & aggregates marketplace Soil Connect (US) and the procurement platform Cathago (Germany), while the Construction’s Future is Now vertical winners were Loris’s (US) next generation light towers and the innovative cast in place concrete buildings technology of Automatic Construction (US).

In two weeks’ time, on November 9, 2022, the competition’s eight winners will compete by pitching their solutions to a jury of 10 representatives of the competition partners during Procore’s GroundBreak conference in New Orleans, United States. Following the pitches, four gold medalists will be selected in the competition’s four opportunity areas. The winning solutions will be awarded the unique opportunity to develop entrepreneur to entrepreneur relations with key industry leading corporations, exhibitors, and startups, and take advantage of the extensive exposure from the full-access three-day conference.

Julien Villalongue, Managing Director of Leonard, the VINCI Group’s foresight and innovation platform, said:

“An award like Construction Startup Competition is a true accelerator for construction technology. It reveals amazing entrepreneurs and innovation talents in our industry. Also, the growing number and the high level of applications have nurtured extensive debates between the 10 partnering industry leaders. The future of the construction industry is already here! We would like to thank the startups for their involvement and we look forward to seeing you on November 9th for the grand finale.”
