Elon Musk gave a new fortune to the concept of ultra-high-speed ground transportation by tube in 2013 under the name Hyperloop. For nearly two decades, academics and engineers around the world have followed the entrepreneur’s lead and set out to develop their own tube-based transportation projects.
The dream of combining the speed of air travel with the convenience of rail has led to an extraordinary outpouring of R&D and investment in new high-speed guided transportation systems.
On the occasion of the publication of a new “Emerging Trend” panorama dedicated to the challenges of hyperfast ground transportation, Leonard invites you to take stock of the opportunities and challenges of Hyperloop, in the presence of three enlightened observers and actors of the very high speed:
- Mathilde Bommier, General Secretary, Voies Ferrées de France
- Sébastien Gendron, Co-founder and CEO of Transpod
- Marc Milosevic, Director of Development, VINCI Railways
The debate will be moderated by Pierre Delaigue, Director of Autonomous, Connected, and Electric Mobility projects at Leonard.
What are the origins and the legacy of Elon Musk’s vision? Who are the pioneers of this technology and market? What technical, economic, and environmental challenges remain to be solved before moving from experimentation to commercial operation?
We invite you to debate this issue online on Thursday, June 24 at 5 p.m.
