Promoting the growth of Construction Tech
Leonard, VINCI’s foresight and innovation platform, is joining forces for the second year with six industry leaders to launch the Construction Startup Competition 2021. The competition, initially created by CEMEX Ventures (Mexico), is also supported by Ferrovial (Spain), Hilti (USA), NOVA by Saint-Gobain (France), GS Groups (Korea) and Haskell (USA). It aims to identify the best innovative solutions in the construction sector.
“We are pleased to partner with the Construction Startup Competition for the second time to promote the growth of Construction Tech, which brings together emerging technologies for the construction industry. No other startup competition gives innovative companies from around the world so many opportunities to collaborate with major players in the sector,” said Julien Villalongue, Director of Leonard.
The five categories of the 2021 competition are: carbon footprint mitigation, supply chain management, efficient jobsite and built environment, advanced building materials and new construction methods. Construction Startup competition 2020 was launched during the final event of the previous edition of this challenge, where startup Modulous was crowned the winner. Special mention for Hiboo, a member of the first cohort of our CATALYST programme, which won the Audience Award.
Several start-ups from the previous edition have already entered negotiations with CEMEX Ventures, Ferrovial, Hilti, Leonard (VINCI) and NOVA (Saint Gobain). For example, two of the 10 finalist start-ups of the 2020 edition are now members of Leonard’s CATALYST programme, which gives innovative companies the means to deploy innovative services and products in partnership with VINCI companies.
Apply!
Start-ups can apply on CEMEX Venture’s website, in one of the five categories open for applications. After a careful analysis of the applications, by a jury composed of representatives of the seven organising companies, the list of winning companies will be announced, during the third quarter of 2021.
At the end of 2021, they will be invited to present their solutions, discuss with investors and meet with operational staff looking for innovative solutions during a Pitch Day. Applications are open until June 27, 2021.
