French startup Vizcab raises an extra €4.5 million for its construction industry life cycle assessment software

Vizcab, a French startup specializing in life cycle assessment calculations for the construction industry, has just announced a Series A funding extension of €4.5 million led by Kompas VC, a venture capital firm specializing in the decarbonization of construction and manufacturing, as well as Tokyo-based Global Brain and San Francisco-Brick and Mortar Ventures. This brings their total Series A round to €9 million.

Founded in 2015, Vizcab offers a SaaS platform which automates the calculation of CO2 emissions and life cycle assessments for construction projects throughout their lifecycle. This AI-powered platform connects all those across the construction value chain, from architects to engineers, manufacturers and construction companies.

This additional capital will enable Vizcab to expand internationally. The startup plans to launch its first international module in June 2024, targeting customers in 33 countries as part of its global expansion strategy.

Australian startup SpatialGPT.AI raises $3.4 million to advance generative AI in architecture and construction

Australian startup SpatialGPT.AI recently raised AU$5.1 million AUD (the equivalent of US$3.4 million) in seed funding from InnovateGPT. Its goal? To develop artificial intelligence solutions intended to transform spatial environments in the architecture and construction sectors, before expanding into other sectors, including education, health and commerce.

SpatialGPT.AI is initially focused on a suite of AI-powered co-pilot solutions to optimize construction workflows, using technologies such as Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, Microsoft Copilot, Apple Vision Pro and JigSpace to improve operational efficiency on construction sites.

SpatialGPT.AI will notably offer virtual reality tours for early design decisions, real-time progress tracking with automated reporting, as well as data collection for risk management.

Reunion island startup Feelbat raises €1.5 million to detect humidity in walls

Feelbat, a startup from Reunion island specializing in building protection, recently raised €1 million from the Reunion entrepreneurial fund Apicap and secured a bank loan of 500,000 euros from Bpifrance.

Founded in July 2020, Feelbat aims to give customers the opportunity to track and monitor their installations at a lower cost with their range of measurement tools, including a mini crack sensor and a wall inclination sensor. The startup has already sold more than 3,000 sensors since it arrived on the market at the end of 2021.

These new funds will enable the company to expand its software and hardware teams by recruiting around 20 people by the end of the year. Feelbat will also use the funds to finalize its new humidity sensor for walls, called Delta HM, which is due to go to market by the end of the year. This multifunctional sensor tracks humidity in walls, ambient humidity, ambient and contact temperature, volatile organic compound (VOC) index, atmospheric pressure and, as an added option, CO2 levels.

This new product addresses various issues caused by humidity and can be used in both new builds and existing structures. It can also monitor humidity in wooden, straw or cob constructions, to prevent humidity from weakening the structures. The Delta HM will also be used for preventative maintenance, particularly for flood risk assessments.
