Waste Marketplace, a start-up from the Intrapreneurs cohort of 2018, raises €2 million

Waste Marketplace, founded in 2018 as part of Leonard's Intrapreneurs programme, has completed a €2 million fundraising round with SMABTP, a leading insurer in the construction sector. The start-up offers a unique solution to simplify the management of construction and industrial waste.

Waste Marketplace takes care of everything for its customers: administrative procedures, quotes from service providers, reporting on carbon emissions generated, container traceability. Everything is accessible in one click on the application.

SMABTP has chosen to join the Waste Marketplace’s board of directors in order to participate in the development of a useful service for its customers in the construction industry. VINCI Construction remains an active supporter of the startup’s development.

The aim of this capital increase is to continue the commercial development of Waste Marketplace throughout France and to continue the functional and technological development of its digital platform.

This fundraising will enable us to further develop our sales force to provide even more detailed coverage of the national territory in order to offer the most appropriate service provider for each need. The funds will also be used to improve the digital tool, particularly with regard to the traceability of the waste taken in charge“, Jérôme de Tomasi, CEO of Waste Marketplace.

Among the new subsidiaries and activities of the VINCI group that have emerged from the Intrapreneurs course led by Leonard, Waste Marketplace has quickly found its market thanks to its excellent fit with the needs of players in the construction and industry sectors, for whom the environmental issue is now a priority“, Julien Villalongue, Director, Leonard.

“The discussions we have had with Waste Marketplace have enabled us to see that this company is of undeniable interest to construction and public works professionals. It allows them to simplify the management of their waste, a real challenge for the sector, which must integrate the strengthening of regulations in this area. This is why we have chosen to support this start-up in order to help protect the environment and our members”, says Hervé Leblanc, Executive Vice President, Major Accounts and International, SMA Group.

“VINCI Construction has made the circular economy a major focus of its development and technical expertise. We are particularly proud of the ambitious development of Waste Marketplace, which shows that to encourage the reuse and recycling of materials from and on our building sites, we need simple, economical, local solutions that integrate traceability from their origin to their implementation”, Thierry Mirville, Chairman of VINCI Construction Invest.
