Building Beyond public

It is the story of an open festival inviting people to discuss and imagine together the future of cities and the infrastructure mixing skills and views about the major transformations under way in construction, mobility and energy. An invitation sent by Leonard, La Fabrique de la Cité, the VINCI-ParisTech Eco-Design Chair and the Fondation VINCI pour la Cité to celebrate the opening of this new lab focused on the future of cities and the infrastructure. You were more than 1,600 professionals, enthusiasts and curious to attend those 25 events for 6 breathless weeks, and discover the new venue. To keep the flame alive, and before coming back for new events scheduled, here’s a glimpse at a selection of 53 inspiring challenges, ideas, projects, startups and films discussed during the festival.

Many of them had never met before. Some were only passing through. While others stuck around for a while. There were project managers, either collaborators with Vinci or other business outside of the group. True to the project’s “accelerator” principle, their ideas grew here, spreading like an infectious bug. With passion and modesty in equal measures, their ideas are building in strength, audacity and clarity, and are beneficial to the whole of Leonard’s community, which is a hub of shared inspiration. The city of the future is at a crossroads of possibilities, be they economic, technologic, sociologic, demographic, artistic or political… Neither person contributing towards creating this city claims to have outlined the ideal plan. But the range of ideas shared during the Building Beyond festival certainly make this city diverse and exciting. This diversity is the fruit of original thinking, new concepts, bold initiatives and spirited inspirations which set Leonard’s heart racing. So let’s turn the spotlight on our 53 festival highlights.
